The Albertine Regional Police has disclosed the identities of those tragically killed in a devastating accident that occurred yesterday evening in Kikube district.

According to Julius Hakiza, the spokesperson for Albertine Police, the death toll from the accident involving a police patrol vehicle has now increased to nine individuals.
The fatal incident occurred at Kabale village when the police patrol car, registered as UP 9799 and en route to revisit a murder scene, veered off the road and overturned multiple times.

Among the deceased are five police officers, including the Kikube District Crime Officer, D/ IP Matubua Avinzo Charles, D/ IP Gen Richard who oversaw the homicide desk, Detective Samuel Ojambo, Detective CPL Cheruto Christine who headed the Gender desk, and Nuwamanya Raymond, the patrol driver.
Additionally, four suspects lost their lives in the accident. They have been identified as Mubarak Rwamahe, Munyuza Martin, Tukamushabe Piece, and a one-year-old baby, the son of Tukamushabe.

Hakiza also provided information on the injured victims currently receiving medical care. Among them are Francis Bwongo, Micheal Omam, Abel Nyiringiye, and John Tumusimi, all police officers, as well as suspects Apolo Turinona, Julius Kabagambe, and Jonathan Kamugisha, admitted to Kikube and Hoima referral hospitals.
Investigations into the cause of the accident are ongoing as authorities seek to understand the circumstances that led to this tragic loss of life.
