National Resistance Movement (NRM) presidential candidate Gen. Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has directed the Prime Minister to expedite the stepping down of high-voltage electricity transmission lines in Kiryandongo District to boost power access across the area.

Speaking during an NRM presidential campaign rally at Karaganya Grounds, Museveni said improved electricity distribution aligns with the government’s broader goal of connecting all households and supporting wealth creation and production.
Museveni also pledged to upgrade all government-aided secondary schools to offer Advanced Level education as part of efforts to expand educational access in Kiryandongo.

The candidate reminded residents of the district of what he described as the NRM’s contributions to local development and called for continued support. He also acknowledged concerns raised by residents regarding the implementation of the Parish Development Model (PDM). Museveni instructed Local Government Minister Raphael Magyezi and the PDM Secretariat to intervene, emphasizing that every beneficiary must receive one million shillings without deductions.
Museveni promised to address any challenges affecting the PDM initiative and outlined four key sectors the NRM is prioritizing to drive national wealth creation: commercial agriculture, artisanship and manufacturing, and the services sector.

He further guided residents on sustainable land use in line with the NRM manifesto and encouraged them to make effective use of government socioeconomic empowerment funds—including the PDM, Youth Livelihood Programme and Women Empowerment Fund—to transition from subsistence to the money economy.
On job creation, Museveni highlighted opportunities in skills training through the presidential zonal industrial skilling hubs, commercial agriculture, artisanship and manufacturing, and the broader services sector.

He also urged the people of Kiryandongo to embrace unity and reject sectarian politics.
Prime Minister Robinah Nabanja outlined major ongoing development projects in the district as provided for in the NRM manifesto. NRM Second National Vice Chairperson Anita Among praised the government for progress made in refugee-hosting communities under the Development Response to Displacement Impact Project (DRDIP).

Kiryandongo District NRM Chairperson Linos Ngompek presented the district status report, detailing service-delivery achievements and making additional requests on behalf of the community.
