Sudhir Ruparelia’s RR Pearl Tower Becomes New Home for URA Real Estate Tax Office

The Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) has shifted its Real Estate Tax Office from its headquarters in Nakawa to RR Pearl Tower One along Yusuf Lule Road in Kampala as part of efforts to improve access to tax services and enhance service delivery.

The specialised office began operating from the new premises on September 7, 2026, according to a public notice issued by the tax body.

URA said the office is situated on the ninth floor of RR Pearl Tower One, opposite the Ministry of Health headquarters, and will continue providing real estate-related tax services to taxpayers.

The authority said the relocation is intended to make it more convenient for taxpayers to access services while strengthening service delivery in the real estate tax sector.

URA office now in Ruparelia property

The move places one of URA’s specialised tax offices in a prominent property associated with businessman and entrepreneur Dr Sudhir Ruparelia and the Ruparelia Group.

RR Pearl Tower is part of the group’s extensive real estate portfolio, with the “RR Pearl” name carrying a connection to the Ruparelia family.

The building also honours the memory of the late Rajiv Ruparelia, Dr Sudhir Ruparelia’s son, whose death in 2026 sent shockwaves through Uganda’s business community and beyond.

Rajiv was involved in the family’s business interests and philanthropic initiatives before his untimely death.

The relocation comes as URA continues to focus on improving tax compliance and revenue collection from Uganda’s expanding real estate sector.

Real estate taxation has become increasingly important as commercial and residential property developments continue to grow, particularly in Kampala and other urban centres.

By relocating the office to a more central location along Yusuf Lule Road, URA expects taxpayers seeking real estate tax services to have easier access to its officials and services.
